Passing of our friend Tomaz Zajc

It is with sadness that we learned of the passing of our friend Tomaz Zajc (born 2 May 1939 in Ljubljana, died 13 December 2023 in Ljubljana, Slovenia), President of Slovenska Olympiska Filatelija, a founding member of AICO.

Tomaz started collecting stamps at the age of 8. Being an athlete, his main interest and devotion was to Olympic stamps. Aside from collecting stamps he was also very active with the FIPO and being close to the late president Samaranch. You might remember that Tomaz introduced the oldest living Olympic Champion, Mr. Leon Stukelj, when he was honored at the Opening Ceremony in Atlanta in 1996 at the age of 97.

From the inaugural AICO congress to the WOCF in Gothenburg, we will have very good memories shared with him.

Today, all our best thoughts go to his family and loved ones.
