New UICOS Book: I Collect Winter Olympic Tickets
The avenues for collecting Olympic memorabilia are practically endless, but the Olympic Tickets business seems to have come to an end with the Paris 2024 Games. Starting with those Games, collectors will have to make do with souvenir tickets, sent to spectators (only if they’ve requested them and paid a supplement to the ticket price) after the Games. To access the stadiums, they will need to show a QR code from a special app downloaded to their mobile phone. And it’s precisely to keep alive the memory of this incredible sector of Olympic and sports collectibles, and to celebrate the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic Games, that UICOS has decided to dedicate its latest editorial work, in the “I COLLECT” series, to these “strips of paper” that over the course of a century have told the stories of places, athletes, and sports. The 384-page, A4-format book, in Italian/English, hardcover, and featuring color illustrations, illustrates Elio Grossi’s extensive collection of Olympic Tickets. Grossi, with the collaboration of Mario Capuano, Pasquale Polo, and Giovanni Rolle, has successfully cataloged nearly all the tickets produced over a century of Winter Games, from Chamonix 1924 to Beijing 2022.
To complete this work, given its success, a second similar volume is being prepared, focusing on Summer Olympics tickets.
This book is published by UICOS as a gift for UICOS members and friends; it is not for sale. Membership in UICOS is required to obtain a copy.
Also receiving copies will be the Italian sports federations, the Italian Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and prominent figures in the world of sport. We also send copies to the Lausanne Museum, the National Sports Library, and any other library that requests one.
