MOSFIT Celebrates 25th Anniversary
Magyar Posta issues commemorative personalized stamp.
AICO member, MOSFIT (Hungarian Olympic and Sport Philatelic Association), celebrated a milestone on 7 March 2019: a quarter century of promoting Olympic and sports philately in Hungary!
In honor of this notable 25th anniversary, Magyar Posta (Hungary Post) issue a special commemorative thematic personalized stamp (shown at left). The attached label reproduces two diamond-shaped stamps from Hungary’s attractive set issued for the 1952 Helsinki Olympic Games. The featured stamps — women’s gymnastics and fencing — represent two Olympic sports at which Hungarian athletes excel.
The stamps were unveiled by Sandor Kurdics, President of MOSFIT, and Imre Marozsan, head of the philatelic section of Magyar Posta (right) in a special ceremony at MABÉOSZ (Hungarian Philatelic Society) headquarters in Budapest. The special labels were designed by graphic artist, István Weisenburger. The new issue is available from Filaposta, philately specialist services and certain post offices.
The personalized stamps are marked “B” (Belföld), the domestic rate, currently HUF 250. The stamps were issued in sheets of 35 stamps with labels (sheet price: HUF 8750). A total of 5,005 stamps (143 sheets) were printed. Full information on the stamps may be viewed at the Magyar Post website. A special 25th anniversary postal cancellation was also available on the first day of the stamps (left).
