Michalis Tsironis Passing
A Last Farewell to a Great Olympic Philatelist.
It is with great regret that I announce the death of Michalis TSIRONIS a good friend and a great Olympic Philatelist. He departed from this life on 23 March 2018, at the age of 86.
Michalis Tsironis was an architect and his love and passion for Philately started since his early childhood. His contribution to Greek and International Philately is of gigantic proportions.
From 1964 till today his Collections have been awarded with more than 300 Medals, Diplomas and Special Prizes of Recognition all over the world. He has won 17 Gold Medals in F.I.P. Exhibitions and his articles related to Olympic Philately have been published to F.I.P. publications and in many catalogs in Philatelic Exhibitions worldwide.
His book entitled “The Olympic Issue of 1906” received 12 Gold Medals in international exhibitions and a prize from the Academy of Athens.
He was past President of the Hellenic Philatelic Federation, and a Jury member in many national and international Philatelic Exhibitions all over the world.
Michalis was one of the last Great Masters of Philately and his contribution to Olympic Philately will be remembered forever.
