EXPHIMO 2024 Stamp Exhibition in
Mondorf-les-Bains, Luxembourg
From 18 – 20 May 2024, the town of Mondorf-les-Bains in Luxembourg hosted the prestigious EXPHIMO 2024 stamp exhibition. The event’s grand opening on May 18 was graced by the presence of Luxembourg’s Minister of Sports and the Mayor of Mondorf-les-Bains. Roger Till and his dedicated team from Phicolux organized this remarkable exhibition, showcasing their passion and expertise.
The President of the Luxembourg Philatelists Association welcomed the visitors with an inspiring speech, followed by a few words from the Chairman of the International Motiv Group for Olympic and Sport (IMOS). During the opening ceremony, Rufin Schullian (Treasurer) and Massimiliano Bruno (2nd Vice President) presented Roger Till with the AICO Prize, recognizing his initiative in organizing this Olympic-themed exhibition.
The exhibition centered around the theme of sports and the Olympics, making it one of the largest Olympic-themed stamp exhibitions in the Olympic year of 2024.
A highlight of the event was the captivating talk by Mr. Ralph Letsch, who shared insights about two renowned Luxembourgish Olympians, Josy Barthel and Jean Jacoby. This lecture added a rich layer of historical context and national pride to the exhibition.
Additionally, a special post office with unique commemorative stamps was set up by the Luxembourgish and German postal services, offering visitors exclusive memorabilia.
On Monday afternoon, the results of the international jury were announced. Participants from five countries displayed 68 collections in frames and showcases. The high quality of the exhibited collections was reflected in the awarding of six gold medals in the categories of Philately and Open Philately.
EXPHIMO 2024 was a significant event, celebrating the intersection of philately, sports, and Olympic history, and it was a memorable experience for all attendees.
