The CONI
Italian National Olympic Committee
This collection is dedicated to the Italian National Olympic Committee, starting from its birth in 1914 to the present day and is “told” through philatelic material, memorabilia, autographs, medals, badges, postcards, tickets and in particular with the mechanical postage used for CONI correspondence, starting from 1927, when it used the franking machine made available by the PNF, replaced in the 30s with two franking machines with the indication of Roma Stadio PNF (Flaminio Stadium). Subsequently, the franking machines in use at CONI were enriched with Olympic rings and advertising plates dedicated to the Olympic Games in Cortina d’Ampezzo and Rome. In 1974 CONI began to use advertising plates on its franking machines that advertised the main sporting events that were organized in Italy and abroad, such as the Olympics, the Youth Games, the World Championships.
