AICO Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Messages for our 10th anniversary

In 2010, the IOC launched a working group at the Cologne 2010 World Olympic Collectors’ Fair to redefine the future of the official representation of Olympic collectors with FIPO’s Member Associations, under the coordination of David MAIDEN and Stéphanie COPPEX, of the IOC.

Four years later, AICO was officially founded in Lausanne on 22 May 2014, on the sidelines of the Lausanne 2014 World Olympic Collectors’ Fair.

At the heart of The Olympic Museum and its Foundation, the AICO Statutes were voted on and signed by the representatives of all the founding national associations or clubs. An agreement was also signed between the IOC and the AICO.

Finally, the first Board was elected.

Since then, AICO has grown, developed, and more than ever is institutionally recognized as the official and international representation of Olympic collectors.

Major AICO events: website, recognized organization, WOCF, AIWOS, AFOSL, AICO Award, AOPC, House of AICO during the Games …

Today, on this tenth anniversary, we thank all the present and past actors of this beautiful creation and think of those who have since left us.

Today, on this tenth anniversary, we wish the AICO and its Member Associations a long and happy life, and in this exceptional Olympic year we look forward to seeing you in Paris, from 26 July to 11 August, at the official Olympic Collectors’ Area, at the heart of the Games celebrations in the Parc de Paris le Villette – AICO House.

Message from the President, Christophe AIT-BRAHAM

Mes Chers Amis olympiques,

It’s a big day that we will celebrate today: the 10th anniversary of the official constitution of the AICO in Lausanne.

Time to remember all those who participated in this adventure and this story well before 2014.

Time to look at all the progress made since the first meeting of the Board at the Olympic Villa, to the current achievements whose success was made with you.

Today, the AICO has proven itself and is recognized as the official institution of Olympic collectors.

Tomorrow, we will continue to develop AICO, always with you.

I warmly thank the EB for their daily work and the support of our International Member Associations.

Let us all be proud of the first 10 years of AICO!

Joyeux Anniversaire à notre AICO!

Message from the First Vice President, Branislav DELEJ

Dear AICO members, NOC collector organizations and members of AICO Executive Board.

Best wishes to all of our great collector groups of Olympic memorabilia on our 10th Anniversary.

I was one of establishing members of AICO at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne on 22nd May 2014.

I was elected to the Executive Board, and for the past 10 years I have been a member of EB together with Christophe Ait-Braham and Mark Maestrone (all three of us for the full 10 years).

Certainly our hard work has paid off as our AICO organization is accepted by the IOC and many NOC´s.

Many thanks to all of you and I wish to you all the best with many nice ideas and projects for our growing community.

Message from the 2nd Vice-President, Massimiliano BRUNO

Dear AICO members,

From the first time I joined this fantastic association what is AICO.

I considered this like a real family driven by only one purpose: to bring together the many Olympic and sports collectors, to support them, and to allow them to realize their goals from AICO’s birth ten years ago.

I hope I have given my contribution for promoting the Olympic spirit even through my never hidden dream to connect the Olympic and sports collectors trying to give them a recreational and social occasion represented also by exhibitions organized till now and in the future.

Best wishes AICO. Let’s continue on this road!

Message from the Secretary General, Mark MAESTRONE

I am thrilled to extend my warmest congratulations to each and every one of our members on the occasion of AICO’s 10th anniversary!

What an incredible milestone for our organization.

Since its inception, AICO has been a beacon for Olympic collectors worldwide, fostering a community bound by a shared passion for the Olympic Games and its memorabilia.

It’s truly remarkable to witness how far we’ve come together over the past decade.

As a founding member of AICO, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the dedication, enthusiasm, and tireless efforts of our members in advancing our mission.

It’s been an honor to contribute to our collective journey, and I am deeply proud of all that we have achieved together.

May the next ten years be filled with even more success, growth, and camaraderie as we continue to celebrate the spirit of the Olympic Games.

Message from the Treasurer, Rufin SCHULLIAN

Ten years ago, with the unification of Olympic collector organizations, a significant step towards the future was taken.

The AICO brought together all collectors, and since then, joint events and exhibitions have highlighted the diversity and richness of Olympic culture.

On this tenth anniversary, may AICO, together with its member associations, continue to inspire young and experienced lovers of the five rings, supporting them in collecting and preserving Olympic treasures.

Here’s to the next ten years filled with passion, community, and cultural discoveries!
