A film nominated for the
SPORT MOVIES & TV 2025 – 43rd MILANO INTERNATIONAL FICTS FEST

The International Association of Olympic Collectors (AICO), Cultural Partner of the FICTS, is pleased to support the promotion and dissemination of this film which highlights the role of Didon, a friend of Coubertin, in the creation of the Olympic motto

Camille BAJOT, director of the film, explains: “At the beginning of 2023, with the 2024 Olympic Games approaching, my friend Alain Arvin-Bérod told me of his desire to make a film about his Hero, this monk from the Rhône-Alpes region.

“As the precious exchanges progressed with Alain, master emeritus of Olympic history, I found myself more and more passionate and tried to decipher how such a figure could have fallen into collective oblivion, he who was much more than the inventor of the Olympic Motto.

“A controversy has wiped him off the map of history, an insoluble paradox when one knows the moral values of the man, a progressive.

“After much reading and research, it was the discovery of new unpublished press archives that brought their share of surprises, allowing us to ask the question again: Should Father Dido be rehabilitated? The spectator will be a judge of the peace.

“This film on the life and work of Father Dido opens a new page in history, dealing not only with Dido’s role in the history of sport in France, in the history of the Olympic Games, but also with the eminently political character of the man, leaving behind him a concrete legacy in the history of France.”

Alain Arvin-Berod is the author of numerous books on Olympism, including “Les enfants d’Olympia” with a preface by Juan Antonio Samaranch, as well as “And Didon created the motto of the Olympic Games.”

 

In 2025, the International Jury of “SPORT MOVIES & TV 2025 – 43rd MILANO INTERNATIONAL FICTS FEST,” the most important World Festival dedicated to Television, Cinema, Communication and Sports Culture – Final of 21 Festivals (across the 5 Continents) of the “World FICTS Challenge” has nominated the film, “THE OLYMPIC GHOST – SLOWER,   LESS HIGH, LESS STRONG.”

The award will be unveiled at a Ceremony on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. in Milan.
