Rufin Schullian (2024-2028)
Treasurer, 2020-2026 (Italy)
Rufin started his Olympic collection with a 100-stamp gift box and showed it for the first time at the age of 15 at a stamp exhibition. Since then he has been fascinated by sports and Olympic collecting.
Since 1993 Rufin has gained experience at various stamp exhibitions in Italy and abroad. The awarding of the 2006 Winter Olympics to Torino was an ideal moment to start with a special collection. With the “2006 Winter Olympic Games” collection he was able to win a Vermeil medal at the 2008 Olympex in Beijing. Meanwhile he has won a Large Vermeil medal with the collection “Olympic Games Paris 1924” at the European Championship for Thematic Philately (ECTP) in Verona in 2019. He also collects biathlon and sport climbing.
Rufin is a member of IMOS and UICOS since 1999. He has written articles on Olympic and other topics for both clubs in the IMOS Journal and PHILASPORT, but also for Michel Rundschau (D), and Briefmarke (A). On the IMOS Board he has been working as webmaster since 2012. He is also a member at the Association of Philatelic Journalists (AIJP).
Rufin was a torch runner during the Olympic torch relay to Torino 2006 and was a volunteer at the EURO 2008 soccer championship.
He started as a young collector in the South Tyrolean Philatelist Youth and has been its president since 2007. The association is committed to youth philately in South Tyrol. With his association Rufin has supervised several exhibitions as exhibition manager, the largest of which were the Austria Junior Cup 2011 and the Alpen Adria Exhibition 2013 in Eppan.
Rufin is married, has 2 children and has been working for 20 years as a firefighter for the professional fire department in Bolzano. His hobbies include hiking in the mountains, cycling and skiing. He speaks German, Italian and a little English.
