Dialogue between the former capitals – Paris / Beijing

The Sorbonne Paris University — 10 May 2024

Christophe AIT-BRAHAM presenting.

At the invitation of the Communication University of China and Paris Sorbonne University, Christophe AIT-BRAHAM, Member of the IOC Culture and Heritage Commission and President of AICO, was able to present at a conference how Olympic collections connect cities and people. AIT-BRAHAM demonstrated that the Olympic objects, such as the Olympic Mascots of Beijing 2022 (the panda BING DWEN DWEN) and of Paris 2024 (the Olympic Phryge) create a bridge between the cultures of cities, the Olympic Culture and Olympic Heritage, thereby creating a legacy of the Games.

The participation of 37 Chinese collectors in the “Share our Olympic History” Exhibition at WOCF Paris 2023 was taken as an example.

To conclude: it’s also the magic of the Games and the Olympic Spirit – bringing together, multiplying the strengths of each one to achieve the best, together!

Culture in general, and the Olympic spirit in particular, have been, are and will be the vectors of a continuous and benevolent dialogue between our two Olympic cities.

Finally, the Assembly was invited to visit the Official Olympic Collectors’ Space, in Paris, Parc de la Villette, from 26 July to 11 August 2024: a space for trading and meeting other collectors, and including an international exhibition.
