MILON OF CROTONE - For the first time an Olympic champion on a stamp

With the famous ancient wrestler Milon of Crotone, who won at five Olympic Games from 532 to 516 BC, France’s postal administration honoured an Olympic champion philatelically for the first time at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris. The exhibit shows the production stages of the value, presents stamp peculiarities and documents the postal use at home and abroad in the 131 days of the validity of the Crotone value.
