The Pierre de Coubertin Family Association and the International Association of Olympic Collectors, an organization recognized by the International Olympic Committee, are pleased to announce the launch of a Cultural Partnership, seven months before the organization of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, the hometown of the renovator of the modern Olympic Games.
It was also in Paris, and more precisely at the Sorbonne, that the International Olympic Committee was created before settling in Lausanne.
Alexandra DE NAVACELLE DE COUBERTIN, President of the AFPC said: “AICO, through its collector members who are passionate about Olympic history, contributes significantly to promoting and preserving the spirit and significance of the Olympic Games. This cultural partnership makes a lot of sense. In particular, it will allow us to create impactful synergies on cultural projects and communication campaigns to promote the Olympic spirit, the idea of peace, friendship and understanding between the peoples of the world through the practice of sport.”
Christophe AIT-BRAHAM, President of AICO, emphasizes that: “Pierre de Coubertin has made culture a pillar of the Olympic movement from the very beginning. In addition, he was the first major Olympic collector to preserve objects and documents that bear witness to the rebirth of the Games, laying the foundations for a future museum and thus sharing the culture and the beginning of the Games’ legacy. It is therefore quite natural that our two entities, each working in their own field for the safeguarding and sharing of our tangible and intangible Olympic heritage, have joined forces with a view to cultural and inspiring projects.”
